What a shame that Toyota, a Japanese car manufacturer, took a chance on an American parts supplier for its American fleet of Toyotas, only to get burned by faulty American manufacturing. They should go back to making everything in Japan, and the American parts supplier who made the faulty pedal, should be sued and put out of business. We wonder why our jobs are being shipped overseas? Because for the past 3 generations, we have raised a bunch of lazy spoiled people who are more concerned with benefits, pensions and lunch breaks than focusing on the job at hand. I try not to buy anything made in the U.S. or China. I buy Japanese TV's, namely Sony and stay with the Sony brand for most electronics. If I buy a manufactured machine type product, I try to find one made in Germany. Even if I have to spend more in the short term, the product usually lasts 3 times as long. Cars from BMW and Porsche, appliances from Bosch, architectural supplies from Staedler Mars, you really can't go wrong with German products. The biggest mistake Mercedes made was trying to merge with Chrysler. It will take them years to regain its quality control but it will come back. The American economy is 70% based on spending. That's what we've become great at, spending, not making much of anything anymore. Except weapons of course. We're great at making guns, ammo and nukes. Destruction is our specialty.
